Presentation of Credentials of the Ambassador of the Republic of Malta H.E. Bonnici to the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Mrs Marlene Bonnici presented her credentials as Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Kingdom of The Netherlands to His Majesty the King Willem-Alexander at Noordeinde Palace, The Hague, on 29th August 2018.

During her exchange with His Majesty Willem-Alexander, Her Excellency Mrs Bonnici noted the strong ties between the two countries. Despite the various challenges looming over the European and international landscapes, Malta and the Netherlands stand to benefit from increased cooperation and policy co-ordination in a number of areas.

Ambassador Bonnici also recalled the close working relationship fostered between the Netherlands and Malta due to the two EU Member States being part of the 2016-2017 Trio Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Equally, other sectors in the two countries have come closer together, particularly the artistic and cultural scenes.

Ambassador Bonnici was accompanied by Mr Simon Grech – Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malta in The Hague and Ms Marie Louise Attard – Commercial Attaché.

As part of her new role, Ambassador H.E. Bonnici also presented her credentials as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malta to the Director-General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) H.E. Fernando Arias on 31 August 2018. The two Ambassadors also had the opportunity to exchange views on the Organisation, its objectives as well as the developments in the area of prohibition, destruction and non-proliferation of chemical weapons. For this event, Ambassador Bonnici was accompanied by Mr Simon Grech – Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malta in The Hague.
