On the 14th September, the Ambassador of Malta John Camilleri visited the Municipality of Ourém.

Situated in the district of Santarém in the central region of Portugal, Ourém Municipaliy comprises 13 civil parishes, including the parish of Fátima.

The Ambassador was welcomed by the Mayor of the City Hall, Mr. Luís Miguel Albuquerque and other council members.

The meeting focused mainly on the Tourism sector, with special emphasis on religious tourism as a driving spring for the visit of Maltese to Fátima and to Portugal.

Ambassador Camilleri, ensured that he was fully committed to the mission of strengthening relations between Portugal and Malta, also aimed at developing, promoting and consolidating the already established religious tourism between Malta, Fátima and the municipality of Ourém itself.
