Maltese Film “ Blood on the Crown” screened for the EU Film Festival in New Delhi

On the 10th of November 2024, the High Commission of the Republic of Malta participated in the European Union Film Festival at the Instituto Cervantes Nueva Delhi, with a screening of the Maltese Film ” Blood on the Crown ” or ” Just Noise” , a historical drama by Falkun Films that tells the story of Malta’s Sette Giugno uprising of 1919. Supported by Arts Council Malta and Malta’s film funding initiatives, the film highlights the resilience of the Maltese people in their fight for justice. The movie was shown in a full hall, with a large and engaged audience in attendance.

The High Commissioner of Malta to India H.E. Mr Reuben Gauci delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of cultural events in strengthening connections between Malta and India.

During his speech, High Commissioner Mr Gauci expressed gratitude to the diplomatic staff, including former Deputy Head of Mission Mrs Tarniem Mangion Shokry Iskandar for her efforts in making the event a success. Following the screening, a panel discussion was held with the film’s producer, Mr Pedja Miletic and moderator by documentary filmmaker Ms. Aaradhana Kohil Kapur, offering insights into the film’s historical and cultural significance.

The event was attended by the High Commissioner’s spouse Dr Olga V Gauci, Deputy Head of Mission Mrs Tarniem Mangion Shokry Iskandar and Second Secretary and Consul Mr Daniel Mallia.

Following the screening and panel discussions, guests enjoyed refreshments featuring Maltese specialities, including Cisk Non- Alcoholic Version an Go&Fun, as a taste of Maltese hospitality.
