Maltese Embassy in Qatar Hosts 2025 Malta National Day Reception

Celebrating 61 Years of Independence and 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations with Qatar
Doha, Qatar, 07/10/2025 – The Embassy of Malta in Qatar, led by H.E. Simon Pullicino, proudly hosted the 2025 Malta National Day Reception on 25th September, marking significant milestones in Malta–Qatar relations. This year’s event was the first large-scale reception organized since the establishment of Malta’s diplomatic mission in Doha in 2021 and follows smaller community gatherings held in 2023 and 2024.
The reception welcomed an esteemed gathering of diplomatic representatives, key stakeholders, and members of the Maltese community, further solidifying the strong bilateral ties between Malta and the State of Qatar.
The Embassy was honoured by the presence of:
- H.E. Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the State of Qatar;
- H.E. Ibrahim Fakhroo, Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State of Qatar;
- H.E. Cristian Tudor, Ambassador of the European Union to the State of Qatar;
- Numerous Ambassadors, Dignitaries, business leaders, and members of the international and Maltese communities in Doha.
This year’s celebration carried profound significance as it coincided with:
- The 61st Anniversary of Malta’s Independence, a landmark in Malta’s journey as a sovereign nation;
- The 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Malta and Qatar, celebrating five decades of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect;
- The resumption of direct Qatar Airways flights to Malta, enhancing connectivity and creating new opportunities for trade, tourism, and people-to-people ties.
H.E. Pullicino expressed his appreciation to all attendees, stating:
“This celebration not only marks important milestones in our national and bilateral history but also reaffirms our commitment to deepening collaboration and exploring new avenues of partnership between Malta and Qatar.”
