Diplomatic relations between Malta and Qatar were formally established in 1975. Bilateral relations have recently been marked by a noticeable increase in high-level exchanges and visits, and several other delegations at technical level focusing on different thematic areas of cooperation. Furthermore, the opening of this Embassy in 2021 served not only to underline the strong bonds of friendship between Malta and Qatar but also to facilitate new avenues of cooperation in the political, economic, commercial, cultural, scientific and technical spheres for the mutual benefit of both peoples.
