Malta’s new Ambassador for Libya Charles Saliba presents credentials in Libya

The Chairman of Presidential Council Fayaz Al-Sarraj received Monday the credentials of Maltese ambassador to Libya  Charles Saliba in the presence of the director of the European Affairs Hagi Ali Dhan at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli. 

The strong bilateral relationship and friendship between the two countries based on decades of longstanding and immeasurable people-to-people contacts will be taken to new levels, one in which Malta aspires to have a diplomatic presence on the ground, said the new Maltese ambassador. 

On his part, H.E Mr al Serraj emphasized that his government welcomes the return of the Maltese Embassy in Libya. He added that full support and assistance will be given not only for the Maltese Embassy but also to those companies which are willing to resume their operations in Libya.

The Maltese Ambassador reiterated Malta’s consistent support and commitment towards Libya’s peaceful political transition and will continue to facilitate economic growth and development for the entire Libyan population.

President Al Serraj also noted that Malta could be the gateway if the Maltese airline will resume flights between the two countries.

Following Malta, the Italian and Turkish new ambassadors for Libya also presented their credentials.
