Malta’s National Day celebrated in Geneva

16/09/2019

On Thursday 12th September, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Malta to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations in Geneva hosted a concert and reception at the Headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Malta’s Independence. The concert featured pianist Ms Christine Zerafa and Mr Philip Attard playing the saxophone, both renowned Maltese musicians who, despite their young age, have made a name for themselves in the United Kingdom and have already performed as a duo on various stages across Europe and beyond.

Mr. Christopher Grima, Malta’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva delivered welcoming remarks and introduced a recorded video message prepared for this occasion by Hon. Carmelo Abela, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion. The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) also participated in this event by setting up a stand and distributing promotional material about Malta as a tourist destination.

The event was well attended by the diplomatic community in Geneva, Maltese nationals living in Switzerland, and officials from Agencies based in Geneva.
