Permanent Mission of Malta to the UN Geneva

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Malta to the United Nations Office and Other International Organisations in Geneva is the official representation of Malta to International Geneva. Our work covers various important thematic areas that also enjoy priority status for Malta and its work internationally. As the home of Human Rights, the Mission in Geneva participates actively at Human Rights Council meetings throughout the year as well as during Universal Periodic Review sessions held thrice yearly. Malta works in close cooperation with its EU partners as well as other Member States that share its values to promote and protect human rights, and to ensure that the international human rights system is upheld.

In addition, Geneva is the home of the World Health Organisation, which carries out vital work to strengthen international health standards. International Geneva also acts as a venue for diplomacy in the field of disarmament. The Mission in Geneva participates in discussions in both policy areas.

The Mission is also active in the humanitarian field, particularly at IOM, IFRC, ICRC and UNHCR. Our dialogue is ongoing, not only on issues that concern Malta directly but also in the coordination of international assistance to those in need during times of crises. Other thematic areas include employment related issues and the emerging digital international discussion.
