Malta’s Embassy reaches out to Chinese Students

06/02/2019

Students attending schools in many parts of China, and from as far away as Qingdao, recently visited the Embassy of Malta in Beijing where they were greeted by Ambassador Mr John Aquilina and Mrs Ann Aquilina.

The children were extremely inquisitive about Malta and had obviously undertaken a lot of preparation for the event, asking many searching questions about Malta’s education system, the lifestyle, and what Maltese children do for entertainment.

The link below, which is a report of the visit prepared by the teachers, has been circulated widely throughout China by social media.

The students were shown numerous videos about Malta with script in both English and Chinese, as well as each being presented with bags containing brochures in Chinese about Malta, and numerous promotional items.

In return, the children had taken much trouble to prepare personal gifts which they presented to the Embassy.

The teachers and parents who accompanied the students were also extremely enthusiastic.

One parent said that the visit to the Embassy “left great impression on us, and also opened up the window for the kids exploring Malta in the future.  They gained a lot.”

A teacher commented that the children shared “many beautiful and touching moments”.

“As for our part, we were inspired by the intellect, charm and enthusiasm of the students”, Mr Aquilina said.
