EU JEEL Connect event entitled “Building Bridges Through Time: Preserving Heritage for a Sustainable Future”
31/05/2025
On 31 May, the Embassy co-hosted with the EU Delegation an EU Jeel Connect event entitled Building Bridges Through Time: Preserving Heritage for a Sustainable Future at the Prince Taz Palace in Cairo. The EU Jeel Connect network was created to help raise awareness about the EU’s contribution to a better future for young people across the Southern Neighbourhood and support more robust and enhanced youth engagement.
The event was a concrete attempt to improve the cultural education in Egypt, specifically by starting a conversation between the younger generations about their culture, identity, tangible and intangible heritage. It brought together heritage conservation practitioners, educators, climate activists, and EU Jeel connectors to foster the sharing of ideas and solutions and to raise awareness among the young generations of their identity and authenticity.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Pace expressed his appreciation to H.E. Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, the Minister of Culture of Egypt for his consistent support to the Embassy, as well as the EU Delegation to Egypt, for co-hosting the event. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to Mr. Ahmed Yassin, EU Jeel Connect Country Leader for Egypt, without whose dynamism and energy, this event would not have been possible. Finally, he thanked the young participants present for their active participation and ideas that would certainly contribute to better awareness and conservation of the Egyptian national heritage.
Ambassador Pace was accompanied by Mr. Pascoe Grima, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul and Ms. Gabriella Grima, Mr. Grima’s spouse.
