Embassy of Malta in the Arab Republic of Egypt

The Embassy of the Republic of Malta in Cairo was one of the very first Embassies that Malta opened after its Independence in 1964. Besides dealing with Malta’s bilateral relations with Egypt, it also undertakes multilateral work as the Head of Mission acts as Malta’s liaison officer to the League of Arab States. The Embassy is also accredited to Sudan.

The geographic proximity between Malta and Egypt and the commonalities between the Maltese and Arabic languages, in the past, led many Maltese to settle in Egypt, mainly in Alexandria. As such, the Embassy provides consular services to the Maltese diaspora resident in Egypt as well as Maltese citizens currently working here. The Embassy also is responsible for the processing of Schengen visas to Egyptian nationals and third country nationals residing in Egypt.
