“Cultural Event – Cappella Diacono in Athens” Maltese Liturgical and Sacred Music

The Embassy of Malta in Athens, Greece, announces two special cultural activities for the month of May;
Sunday 19 May 2019 at 11.00 –
High Mass in collaboration with the Catholic Archdiocese of Athens at the Catholic Cathedral of St. Dionysius the Αreopagite, 24 Panepistimiou & Omirou Str., Athens.
The Holy Mass will be celebrated by H.E. the Catholic Archbishop of Athens, Mgr. Sevastianos Rossolatos and Η.Ε. the Apostolic Nuncio to Greece, Mgr. Savio Hon Tai-Fai.
The Cappella Diacono – Malta will be performing “Messa in Mib”, one of the Maltese composer Maestro Carlo Diacono major liturgical compositions, for orchestra, choir and soloists.
Monday 20 May 2019 at 19.00 –
Concert of Maltese Sacred Music by the Cappella Diacono, Orchestra and Choir – Malta at the Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall, Vas. Sofias Avenue & Kokkali Str., Athens.
Entrance is FREE – A kind donation at the entrance door will be accepted in aid of Caritas Athens.
On both events the Cappella Diacono – Malta will be under the direction of Maestro Raymond Sciberras F.L.C.M.
The two activities are being organized as an initiative of the Cultural Diplomacy Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of Malta, in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports. The Malta Ship Registry is the main sponsor of these events.
This special occasion marks once again and celebrates the excellent relations that exist between Malta and Greece in several sectors. His Excellency the Ambassador of Malta to Greece, Joseph Cuschieri, said: “This is yet another occasion to show how Malta and Greece can work further together by way of strengthening their existing excellent relations, not only in the trade and political fields, but also in other areas, such as culture, the arts and innovation, with the creation of mutual opportunities and exchanges.”
While thanking all those who have collaborated with the Embassy to make these cultural activities happen, the Ambassador of Malta encouraged the public to attend and take the opportunity to enjoy this experience.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion Carmelo Abela, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece Georgios Katrougalos and the Minister for Culture of Greece Mirsini Zorba will honour the events with their presence.
