The Permanent Representative Randolph De Battista

Randolph De Battista

Ambassador Randolph De Battista has been serving as the Permanent Representative of Malta to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva since January 2025.

Born in May 1987, he has deep experience in multilateral and European institutions, government, and public administration. He was a Member of Parliament in Malta from 2022 until his posting in Geneva in January 2025. During this time he served in the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly and headed Malta’s delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Between 2014 and 2017, Ambassador De Battista served as Chef de Cabinet at the Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union in Brussels, where he was part of the team responsible for the organizational preparations for Malta’s first Presidency of the Council of the EU.

In 2017, he worked at the European Commission in Brussels as part of Michel Barnier’s cabinet at Task Force 50, which led the negotiations for the United Kingdom’s departure from the EU.

Earlier in his career, in 2013, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for EU Affairs. He also served two terms as CEO of Partit Laburista, from 2017 to 2020 and again from 2022 to 2024.

Ambassador De Battista holds a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta. He resides in Geneva with his partner, Cyrus.
