Malta High Commission in the Republic of Ghana

Welcome to the website of the High Commission of the Republic of Malta to the Republic of Ghana.

The High Commission of the Republic of Malta in Accra is committed to promoting friendly exchanges between the people of Malta and the people of Ghana.  Intensifying relations with Ghana is also a priority for the Maltese Government’s Strategy for a Partnership with Africa.

Following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malta and Ghana in 1974, co-operation between the two countries have further enhanced also though numerous high-level visits and with the establishment of a Malta-Ghana Bilateral Permanent Technical Joint Commission.

Malta continues to view Ghana as a role model for peace, democracy, and stability in the region. Malta also understands the importance of African integration and trade liberalisation, and supports initiatives taken by Ghana and other African partners in this direction.

The importance of Ghana for Malta as a trade partner is becoming increasingly evident. Ghana’s vibrant and dynamic economy provides ample opportunities for Maltese industries that are interested in venturing into the African market, mostly particularly in sectors like health and pharmaceuticals; waste management and green solutions; ICT solutions, education and training services, manufacturing and food-processing, agriculture, and others.

A priority task for the High Commission of Malta in Ghana is to create and nurture mutually beneficial commercial exchanges between the two countries.  The High Commission supports the Ghana Beyond Aid vision of the Government of Ghana and recognises the positive impact of industrialisation, private sector investments and collaborations in key sectors, such as education, health, and environment, on the sustainable development and economic growth of the country.

To this effect, the High Commission provides regular advice to Maltese companies – startups and SMEs, NGOs and institutions who are looking at exploring opportunities for partnership, exchanges, or collaboration with Ghana.  It is the objective of the High Commission to stimulate contacts, exchange of expertise and deepen cooperation between the two countries and people in all fields of mutual interest.
