Ms Denise Demicoli is currently serving in the capacity of Consul General of Malta in New York, since 14 October 2024.

She previously served as Consul General of Malta in Toronto and as Deputy High Commissioner in Australia, with a brief stint as Acting Consul General in Sydney.

Throughout her diplomatic career and postings in countries with the highest presence of Maltese Living Abroad, Ms Demicoli’s professional and personal objective is to assist Maltese and Gozitans with accurate and effective consular assistance, as well as furthering Malta’s strategic foreign policy objectives encompassing academic, cultural and trade/commercial promotion.

Throughout her career, Ms Demicoli aims to safeguard the interests and well-being of Maltese Living Abroad through dialogue, listening and close collaboration with community groups and members.

Academically, Ms Demicoli has conducted interdisciplinary post-graduate research on contemporary diplomacy and intercultural dialogue through the perspectives of media and communications and critical theory, and in the field of contemporary diplomacy. Through her research and life experience, Ms Demicoli believes in the value of keeping alive histories of Maltese who sought a bright future for themselves and their families in foreign lands while also looking towards the future from where we stand.

During her postings covering consular jurisdictions across Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Ms Demicoli has gathered a considerable experience in consular services and matters. The highlight of this work experience was the contact with Maltese from all walks of life.

As Consul General in New York, Ms Demicoli looks forward to meeting several Maltese and Gozitans from across the United States, particularly from the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
