Natasha Meli Daudey

Natasha Meli Daudey is Malta’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Austria. She is also the Permanent Representative of Malta to the Organisation of Security and Cooperation in Europe, to the United Nations and to the International Organisations based in Vienna. In 2024, when Malta assumed the role of the OSCE Chairpersonship-in-Office, she became the Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council for the year 2024.

Prior to this appointment, Ms. Meli Daudey served as Malta’s resident Ambassador to Poland and non-resident Ambassador to Georgia, Moldova, Belarus and Armenia.

Ms. Meli Daudey is a career diplomat. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 2 April 2001. In the initial phase of her career, she predominantly focused on multilateral affairs, overseeing relations with international institutions such as the International Labour Organisation, the World Health Organisation, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the International Parliamentary Union.

Prior to Malta’s accession to the European Union, in October 2003, Ms. Meli Daudey was posted to the Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union in Brussels where she served as Antici.

In February 2008, Ms. Meli Daudey was then posted to Malta’s Embassy in France, where she served as Deputy Head of Mission and Consul.

In 2014, Ms. Meli Daudey was posted to Malta’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, where she served as Deputy Permanent Representative until July 2016. During her posting, Ms. Meli Daudey followed the works of the Security Council, and was Malta’s representative on the 1st and 4th Committees. As Malta’s representative, she was the Chair of the Working Group of the Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, and in this capacity organised several events with NGOs and civil society.

Ms. Meli Daudey obtained her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations (Hons) from the University of Malta in 1999. The following year, she pursued a Master’s Degree in European Politics and Administration at the College of Europe in Bruges, graduating in 2000. In 1996, she obtained the Diplome d’Hautes Etudes en Français and the Diplome d’Etudes Supérieures from the Alliance Française.

Prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Meli Daudey undertook an internship with the European Commission, and also gained valuable experience in journalism with the State broadcaster. From 2002 and 2003, she was a visiting lecturer on Euro-Mediterranean relations at the European Documentation and Research Centre.

Ms. Meli Daudey speaks French and Italian, has knowledge of German, and basic knowledge of Arabic, Spanish, and Polish.

Ms. Meli Daudey is married and has two children.
