Between 7 and 9 April, the Consul General, Mr Ivan Vassallo, accompanied a Maltese delegation to Marrakech to attend GITEX Africa. The delegation included representatives from MCAST— Dr Tatjana Chircop and Mr Conrad Vassallo—as well as Mr Jurgen Zammit from Malta Enterprise.

On 7 April, the Consul General and the delegation attended the official opening of the EU Pavilion, underscoring Malta’s commitment to strengthening cooperation within the European Union’s external innovation and digital engagement initiatives.

GITEX Africa is a premier platform highlighting Africa’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, bringing together stakeholders across key sectors including Cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Telecommunications, Finance, Agritech, and Health. During the visit, the Consul General and the Maltese delegation also participated in the EU Networking Breakfast and held a series of engagements with local startups, established multinational enterprises, and academic institutions. These interactions contributed to strengthening bilateral ties and identifying opportunities for collaboration in innovation, education, and technology.
