Republic Day of Malta celebrated in Sri Lanka and VFS Visa Application Centre – Colombo accreditation inaugurated

On Tuesday 02 December 2025, the High Commissioner of Malta to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka ( resident in New Delhi ) H.E. Mr Reuben Gauci celebrated the 51st Anniversary of the Republic Day of Malta in Sri Lanka. The Chief Guest of the event was H.E. Ms Pramuditha Manusinghe, Director Europe & North Africa Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism of Sri Lanka. The Honorary Consul of Malta in Colombo, Sri Lanka Mr Shentano Sabar was also present for the occasion.

The event was sponsored by the Maltese SiGMA, which was organizing the SiGMA World South Asian iGaming Conference in Colombo Sri Lanka within the period 30 November- 02 December 2025.  During the event Mr Eman Pulis , Maltese National and Founder of SiGMA spoke about SiGMA’ s iGaming events along with the company’s events for charity worldwide. During the SiGMa World iGaming Conference an auction of artistic works was organized, proceedings of which were transferred to the victims of the Cyclone Ditwah which was devastating Sri Lanka during the time of the SiGMA Conference.

On Wednesday 03 December 2025, the High Commissioner Gauci inaugurated the accreditation of VFS Visa Application Centre in Colombo to the High Commission of Malta in India. As from early next year ( 2026 ), the Schengen Short Stay Visa Applications for Malta by esteemed citizens and residents of Sri Lanka, will be processed directly by the High Commission of Malta in India. High Commissioner Gauci travelled to Colombo from New Delhi in the 30 November 2025 to 04 December 2025.
