New Maltese High Commissioner for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas

On 25th February 2019, H.E. Keith Azzopardi presented his Letters of Credence as Malta’s non-resident High Commissioner to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas to Her Excellency Governor General the Most Honourable Dame Marguerite Pindling. High Commissioner Keith Azzopardi was accompanied by his family and Malta’s Honorary Consul for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas Mr Gerard J. Wirth.

High Commissioner Keith Azzopardi conveyed the greetings and good wishes of the President of the Republic of Malta to the Governor General and expressed the desire of the Government of Malta to strengthen the existing good ties between the two countries both bilaterally and also within the framework of the multilateral organisations, including the Commonwealth of Nations.

H.E. Governor General Marguerite Pindling welcomed High Commissioner Keith Azzopardi and reiterated the call for stronger cooperation while citing the various similarities between the two nations, be it geographically, political commitments by the respective governments as well as similar interests in trade such as maritime and financial services.

Earlier that day, High Commissioner designate H.E. Keith Azzopardi presented his Copie D’Usage to the acting Foreign Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the Honorable Theodore Symonette, Minister for Financial Services, Trade and Industry and Immigration. During his stay in Nassau, High Commissioner Keith Azzopardi also paid a number of courtesy calls including on the Attorney General, the Honorable Carl W. Bethell and the Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, the Honorable Philip Davis.
