On 27 September 2025, the Consulate General of Malta in Sydney held a Maltese Citizenship Award Ceremony, during which 20 individuals were formally presented with their Maltese citizenship certificates.

The ceremony was opened by the Consul General, Anneliese Sammut, and included a message from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the Hon. Dr Ian Borg, on the occasion of Malta’s Independence Day. Following the presentation of certificates, the proceedings concluded with the National Anthem of Malta.

The President of the Maltese Community Council of New South Wales, Miriam Friggieri, and the President of La Valette Social Centre, Antoine Mangion, addressed the gathering, encouraging the new citizens to become active members of the Maltese community in NSW.

The Consulate General extends its appreciation to the High Commission of Malta for its continued support, to the President of the Maltese Community Council of NSW for serving as Master of Ceremonies, and to all those who contributed to the success of this event.
