The 58th Independence Anniversary was celebrated by the Embassy of Malta in France with an evening concert for French and Maltese classical music lovers, held at the residence of the Ambassador, and a mid-day reception held on another day at the Chancery for the diplomatic corps based in Paris, officials, and friends of the Embassy.

Ambassador Carmelo Inguanez, together with Mr Kurt Vella Fonde, Deputy Head of Mission, and Mr Robert John Micallef, Consul and First Secretary, welcomed members of the diplomatic corps in Paris, Honorary Consuls of Malta across France, and friends of the Embassy. In his speech Ambassador Inguanez paid homage to Malta’s first Head of State following Independence, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Ambassador said that in these last 58 years Malta embarked on a mission not only to transform the economy and create economic growth and wealth, but also to establish and strengthen bilateral relations with countries across the world and to play its part as a trusted partner in multilateral fora. He said that the answer to today’s international challenges lies in dialogue and understanding through multilateralism. It is with this spirit of collaboration that Malta will take up its non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council as from January 2023.
