Her Majesty received the High Commissioner in Private Audience and amongst other things remarked on the excellent relations between Malta and the United Kingdom and reminisced on recollections of her lengthy stays on the island.

As a memento of this special occasion, the High Commissioner presented Her Majesty with a Maltese hand crafted silver model ‘Dghajsa tal-Latini’ (Gozo boat).

The ceremony at Buckingham Palace was followed by a Vin d’Honneur at the Malta High Commission, attended by the Marshal and Dean of the Diplomatic corps, diplomats, top officials from the Foreign Office and representatives of the Maltese communities in the UK. During an address, the High Commissioner augured his term in London would contribute towards the further strengthening of Anglo Maltese relations.
