The Embassy of Malta in Moscow participated on Saturday, 26 September 2026, in the European Day of Languages, an annual celebration promoting linguistic diversity, language learning and intercultural understanding across Europe.

The event brought together 3,000 participants, who had the opportunity to discover and engage with a wide range of European languages and cultures.

As part of Malta’s participation, 17 participants attended an online lecture on the Maltese language, delivered by Ms Yana Psaila. The lecture introduced participants to the Maltese language and provided an insight into its distinctive linguistic and cultural heritage.

The Embassy also participated in a “Speak Dating” activity, which gave participants the opportunity to engage in informal conversations and discover different European languages. The Embassy noted a particularly positive enthusiasm and interest towards Malta and the Maltese language throughout the event.

The Embassy of Malta is pleased to have contributed to this celebration of Europe’s linguistic and cultural diversity and looks forward to participating in next year’s edition, with the aim of continuing to promote the Maltese language and greater awareness of Malta among participants.
