16/11/2021

The Consul General of Republic of Malta to Canada, Dr Raymond C. Xerri visited the Maltese community in the city of London and the Municipality of Stratroy-Caradoc, in the Middlesex Region of the Province of Ontario.  In London, Consul General Xerri attended a lunch held in the main mall of the city with a sizeable group of Maltese families.  They gather monthly to renew their Maltese ties, friendship and assist each other where they can, on this occasion, the first time after eighteen months of closure due to the COVID19 pandemic.

In a message to all present, Dr Xerri encouraged to continue to hold these gatherings with youth and grandchildren to ensure that such Maltese Canadian gatherings continue. He explained the advantages to the second and third generation youth present, when one obtains Maltese citizenship and a Maltese passport.

Consul General Dr Raymond C. Xerri then went to the muncipality of Stratroy-Caradoc to visit an elderly home built, owned and managed by a Maltese Canadian family inaugurated in 2004.  The Sprucedale Home Care facility that has won several provincial, federal and foreign awards for its quality service and very high standard has 96 beds in operation and is expanding by an additional 32 beds in the near future.

This visit to the Middlesex Region is the second in a series of similar visits considering the ever-growing demand for information requested by younger Maltese Canadians who decide to apply for Maltese Citizenship and obtain their Maltese Passport amongst other useful services requested. Furthermore, the Consulate General of Malta to Canada is committed to fostering Maltese Canadian business networking throughout Canada and with Malta.
