Ms Anneliese Sammut

Anneliese Sammut assumed the role of Consul General at the Consulate General of Malta in Sydney in December 2024. Prior to this, she served as Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at the Embassy of Malta in Madrid, where she also held the position of Chargée d’Affaires a.i. from August 2024, overseeing the mission’s operations.

Before joining Malta’s diplomatic corps, Ms. Sammut worked as a Policy Officer at the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations in New York. She later served as a Technical Attaché in the External Relations Unit at Malta’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels.

In her current role, Ms. Sammut is dedicated to further strengthening Malta’s presence in New South Wales, which is home to a large and vibrant Maltese diaspora. She aims to enhance cooperation across various sectors and is committed to offering consular support and assistance to the Maltese community in New South Wales to the best of her ability.

Ms. Sammut holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Public Policy from the University of Malta and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Istanbul Bilgi University.

She is fluent in Maltese, English, and Spanish and has also studied Turkish, German, and French.
