Embassy of Malta in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Malta and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoy excellent bilateral relations, which were established on 1 September 1975. The main mission of the Embassy is to act as the highest representation of the Government of Malta in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the other territories it covers i.e. the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Yemen. It is active politically in facilitating in person and distant interaction between respective members of Government; commercially in being an enabler for trade and business between the two countries, and socially in the array of Consular services it offers. It also acts as a point of support for the Maltese nationals who currently count to around forty nationals in Saudi Arabia, and six in Bahrain.

Over the past three years the Mission has been primarily active in commercial diplomacy, supporting Maltese entrepreneurs with interest in doing business and trade in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, not only in the facilitation of exchanges but also in logistical support when required.

The Embassy also focuses in promoting the Maltese tourism and educational sectors, by not only initiating meetings at host governmental level but also by participating in locally organized fairs and exhibitions and interacting with private industry stakeholders.

Through the current Ambassador, the Embassy has also offered dedicated one-to-one support to numerous businessmen and businesses, ranging from market insights, participation at high level meetings, dedicated consular service and delegated representation.

Core to the Embassy’s mission is its continuous one-to-one contact with the Maltese diaspora members in the territories it serves. This is done through meetings with the Ambassador on a regular basis during work and social hours. Over the past two years the Embassy in conjunction with local commercial cinemas, screened Malta produced films for the first time ever in Saudi Arabia.
