Pierre Clive Agius

The Ambassador of Malta to the French Republic is Pierre Clive Agius. He presented his credentials to the President of France Emmanuel Macron on the 29 of February 2024.

Ambassador Agius graduated from the University of Malta and read his Master at the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies IMEDAC). As a child he attended the Archbishop’s Minor Seminary in Malta.

Previously Ambassador Agius served as Ambassador to the Russian Federation, the United States of America, the Republic of Poland, the Kingdom of Belgium and to NATO.

Ambassador Agius started his diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade in 1993. Prior to being appointed Ambassador , Mr. Agius was posted to Paris and UNESCO, at the Delegation of Malta to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations Organization in Geneva and at the Delegation of Malta to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna.

Mr. Agius served also as Diplomatic Advisor to the President of Malta from 2001 to 2004.

Ambassador Pierre Clive Agius received decorations from the Italian Republic Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Republica Italiana, from the Sovereign Military Order of Malta Crucem Magni Officialis, and from the Republic of Poland Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
