Embassy of Malta in the Federative Republic of Brazil

Diplomatic relations with the Federative Republic of Brazil were established on 23 June 1975. The Embassy of the Republic of Malta in Brasilia was inaugurated on 3 June 2022, becoming also Malta’s first diplomatic representation in Latin America. Our mission aims to enhance the bilateral political, economic and cultural relations with the host country Brazil and Chile, to which country this Embassy is also accredited to. The Embassy is honoured to promote and support the Maltese economy through meaningful representations in these two countries, and in promoting our diplomatic relations, two-way investment, cooperation and the development of partnerships. The Embassy also provides consular assistance to Maltese nationals living in or visiting Brazil in addressing consular matters.

Presenting Malta as an option for Brazilians, whether they are potential tourists and/or businesses is a huge challenge, given the geographical distance and the difference in size of country and population between the two countries. However, with technology on our side, we have many opportunities to promote Malta, either as a business or tourist destination or both. Showcasing Malta in Brazil, the largest economy in South America, is an exercise of bridge building that is already resulting in positive results for all stakeholders, and both our nations.
