Ms Marsim Cassar is a Maltese career diplomat with over 15 years of experience in foreign service.  Since March 2025, she is serving as Consul at the Consulate of Malta in Algiers.

Her previous overseas postings include senior diplomatic roles at Malta’s missions in Accra, Moscow, and New Delhi, where she served as Deputy Head of Mission and Consul.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malta, she held key positions focusing on relations with the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Central Asia and coordinating foreign policy efforts in relation to the EU Eastern Neighbourhood Policy.  She was also responsible for overseeing relations with the United States and Canada.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies (Honours) with History and a Master of Arts in Diplomatic Studies.  Fluent in English and Italian, she also speaks French and Russian at an intermediate level.
