Consulate of Malta in Algiers

Diplomatic relations between Malta and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria were established on 23 January 1975. The Consulate of the Republic of Malta in Algeria strives to improve and develop the already excellent relations that exist between the two countries.

Our mission in Algeria is not only to promote tourism between both countries which share the same values of hospitality and generosity, but is most of all the promise of successful economic and financial investment partnerships between Malta and Algeria.

The Consular services offered by the Consulate include renewal of passports, legalization and certification of true copies of documents, registration of birth, marriage, divorce and death with the Public Registry of Malta, oaths and affidavits. The services are rendered on an appointment basis at the Consulate, which is located in El Biar, Algiers.

The Consulates also processes Schengen visa applications, in partnership with VFS Global, which receives the applications for the applicants on the Consulate’s behalf. VFS Global’s application centres are located in Algiers and in Oran.

The Consulate is always happy to assist Maltese visitors to Algeria, and also offers advice and guidance to Algerian nationals who wish to travel to Malta for tourism, business or study purposes.

The Consulate assists Maltese businesses that are interested in participating in the various fairs/conferences which are held each year in Algeria.

The Consulate also organizes cultural projects which help to increase Malta’s visibility in Algeria, as well as to highlight the many cultural similarities  that are shared between the two countries.
