H.E. Simon Pullicino joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1986. Over these last 40 years, he performed duties in various directorates within the Ministry, was assigned a number of overseas posts and formed part of several Maltese delegations that participated in United Nations, European Union, international/regional conferences and meetings.

He was posted successively as Third Secretary at the Mission of Malta to the United Nations in Geneva (1990 – 1994), Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Malta to the European Union in Brussels (1994 – 1997), as Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at both the Embassy of Malta in Paris (1999 – 2003) and the Embassy of Malta in Tunis (2003 – 2008) as well as the first resident Consul General at the Consulate General of Malta in Istanbul (2009 – 2011).

On 11 October 2011, he presented his Letters of Credence as Malta’s resident Ambassador to Portugal to H.E. Anibal Cavaco Silva, President of the Republic of Portugal.

On 17 October 2012, he presented his Letters of Credence as Malta’s resident Ambassador to Israel to H.E. Shimon Peres, President of the State of Israel.

In January 2016, he returned to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and served as Assistant Director, External Relations and Mediterranean Affairs representing Malta at the Senior Officials’ Meetings of the Union for the Mediterranean, the 5+5 Western Mediterranean Dialogue and the Anna Lindh Foundation.

On 17 September 2020, he presented his Letters of Credence as Malta’s resident Ambassador to Tunisia to H.E. Kais Saied, President of the Republic of Tunisia.

On 27 September 2023, he presented his Letters of Credence as Malta’s resident Ambassador to Qatar to H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar.

On 11 May 2026, he was designated Malta’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

Born in Sliema on 4 December 1964, he is married to Tania née Debattista and they have two children.
