Presentation of the Letters of Credence of H.E. Maria Camilleri Calleja as Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the State of Qatar

On 4th August 2026, H.E. Maria Camilleri Calleja presented her Letters of Credence as Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the State of Qatar to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar.
The credentials ceremony, together with the traditional inspection of the Guard of Honour, took place at the Lusail Palace in Doha.
During this ceremony, Ambassador Camilleri Calleja conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic of Malta and reaffirmed Malta’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Malta and Qatar.
Both sides highlighted the excellent bilateral relations enjoyed by the two countries consolidated through the State Visit of H.E. Dr. George Vella, the President of Malta to Qatar which included a meeting with His Highness in June 2022. Lastly, the two sides expressed their determination to build on the strong foundations established over the years, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, culture, tourism, education and people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Camilleri Calleja had presented her Copie d’Usage to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Ahmad Hassen Al-Hammadi on 2nd August 2026.
During the Presentation of the Letters of Credence, H.E. Maria Camilleri Calleja was accompanied Ms Michelle Baldacchino, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at the Embassy of Malta in Qatar.
