The Maltese Embassy in Moscow organised an activity, consisting of an online lecture on the Maltese language, to commemorate the European Day of Languages (EDL), organised by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in Moscow, Russia, on Saturday, September 20. The online lecture, with the theme of ‘The National Poet of Malta Dun Karm Psaila and His Great Contribution to The Prosperity of the Maltese Language’, was delivered by linguist and translator Dr Yana Vladislavovna Psaila, a Maltese national of Russian origin. The lecture dealt with the brief introduction to the history of the Maltese language and the translation of poems by Dun Karm Psaila into Russian. A short introductory speech was delivered in Maltese by Mr. Dennis Grech, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at the Embassy of Malta.
