Lectures on the 60th Anniversary of Malta-India Diplomatic Relations in the Indian cities of Chandigarh and Amritsar

On Wednesday 23 July 2025 and on Friday 25 July 2025 respectively, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Malta to India, H.E. Reuben Gauci delivered 2 interactive lectures coined Malta and India Relations, Pre and Post Independence at the renowned Chandigarh University in the Indian city of Chandigarh and at the equally renowned Khalsa College in the Indian city of Amritsar. Both cities are located in the North Indian State of Punjab.
During his interactive lectures, the High Commissioner spoke about the relations which both countries and peoples had from the times of the British Imperial Colonisation till they established diplomatic relations sixty years ago, on 10 March 1965, when both countries had become Independent. The lectures delivered by Mr Gauci spoke about important milestones of contact between Malta and India, the shared values of democracy and human rights, which both nations fostered after attained Independence, and the political and economic possibilities of co-operation which lie ahead for Malta -India relations, irrespective of the difference in size and geographical locations.
During his visit, the High Commissioner also had time to tour the campuses of both institutions, including their libraries and museums.
