60th Anniversary of Malta’s Independence celebrated in Mumbai, India

On 20 September 2024, the High Commissioner of Malta to India, resident in New Delhi, H.E. Reuben Gauci travelled to the Indian Financial Capital of Mumbai in order to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Malta’s Independence on 21 September 1964. The Reception took place at the Oberoi Trident Nariman Point Hotel and was graced by a number of guests.  

The Reception was honoured by the online address of the Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta, Hon Dr Ian Borg.

During his address, High Commissioner Gauci said that the High Commission in New Delhi is trying its best to be present in the whole of India, and that is why this year the significant 60th Anniversary of Malta’s Independence was being celebrated in Mumbai. Mr Gauci also underlined the fact that this is the 60th year of Malta-India Diplomatic Relations, with the 60th Anniversary of these esteemed relations to fall on 10 March 2025. 

Maltese Member of Parliament, Hon Dr Aaron Farrugia, who was visiting Mumbai, attended the event along with the Cardinal of Mumbai, His Eminence Oswald Gracias.

During his visit to Mumbai, High Commissioner Reuben Gauci had a meeting with  the Chairperson of the World Trade Centre in Mumbai, Mr Vijay Kalantri and discussed Malta’s participation at the World Trade Expo 2024 to be held in  Mumbai to be held in October 2024.
