Malta’s Ambassador Leads Government Technical Delegation to Tokyo and Osaka in Preparation for Osaka 2025 EXPO

Ambassador Andre Spiteri recently led a distinguished government technical delegation to Tokyo and Osaka from September 3 to September 9, 2023. The mission aimed to pave the way for Malta’s active participation in the Osaka 2025 EXPO, fostering international collaboration and showcasing Malta’s expertise and innovation on a global stage.
The delegation, comprising of Ms Josephine Farrugia – Deputy Commissioner General of the Malta Pavilion at EXPO 2025, Ms Carmen Walls – Senior Manager at Trade Malta, Mr Stephen Vella – Deputy Principal Business Development and Communications at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, Andrew Debattista – Senior Manager at the Institute of Tourism Studies, and Mr Shingo Endo – Representative of the Malta Tourism Authority in Japan, embarked on this important journey to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote Malta’s unique attributes on an international platform.
During their visit to Japan, the Maltese delegation engaged in a series of strategic meetings, discussions, and collaborative sessions with Japanese counterparts, government officials, and stakeholders in both Tokyo and Osaka. These interactions were geared towards exploring potential opportunities for cooperation, investment, and exchange in various sectors, including trade, technology, tourism, and education.
Ambassador Spiteri emphasized the significance of Malta’s participation in the Osaka 2025 EXPO and its role as a platform for showcasing Malta’s contributions to global innovation, sustainability, and economic growth. The delegation’s visit to Tokyo and Osaka underscores Malta’s commitment to fostering international collaboration with Japan for the upcoming EXPO and beyond.
