Ambassador Giovanni Buttigieg presents credentials in Ireland

H.E. Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, received the Letters of Credence from H.E. Giovanni Buttigieg as Malta’s Ambassador to Ireland on Thursday 31 March 2022 at Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence and principal workplace of the President of Ireland.

Mr. James Browne, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Justice, represented the Government at the ceremony.

In a meeting following the presentation, President Higgins and Ambassador Buttigieg discussed areas of mutual interest and international affairs of common concern to the two countries.

A Guard of Honour was provided by the Air Corps, Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, under the command of Lieutenant Fiachra McGoldrick.

Malta and Ireland established diplomatic relations on 13 June 1990.
