Prime Minister’s Official Visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

On 18 and 19 May 2025 the Prime Minister of Malta, the Hon. Dr. Robert Abela, paid an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He was accompanied by the Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, the Hon. Dr. Owen Bonnici, and by the Ambassador of Malta to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Prof. Dr. George A. Said-Zammit. During the two-day official visit the Prime Minister had talks with His Majesty the King Abdullah II as well as with the Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Jafar Hassan. These talks focused particularly on the present and future relations between both countries in various sectors including trade, education, culture, the national heritage, and tourism. For this occasion Malta and Jordan signed four important agreements relating to tourism and culture, a framework cooperation agreement, water conservation and management, and the national archives. Dr. Robert Abela also had the occasion to visit the Al-Zatari refugee camp.
The Malta delegation also included the Head of Secretariat at the Office of the Prime Minister, Colonel Dr Mark Mallia, and Sherpa Leandro Borg.
