On 19 June 2023, H.E. Dr Francesca Camilleri Vettiger, presented her credentials as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malta to the Council of Europe, to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, H.E. Marija Pejčinović Burić, at the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg.

During the meeting following the presentation ceremony, the Ambassador and the Secretary General discussed the outcome of the Reykjavik Summit as well as Malta’s preparations for its forthcoming Presidency of the Committee of Ministers in 2025. They also discussed Malta’s important role as Chair of the Executive Committee of the North-South Centre, in particular in furthering the engagement of the Council of Europe with the Southern Neighbourhood.

Ambassador Camilleri Vettiger reaffirmed Malta’s strong commitment to upholding the fundamental values of human rights, democracy and the rule of law and to further strengthen cooperation with the Council of Europe to this end.
