26/11/2020

Despite the increase of cases of Covid 19, on 8 November 2018 the Consulate General of the Republic of Malta in Algeria participated in the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Dely Ibrahim War Cemetery in Algiers.

The Dely Ibrahim war cemetry is the main intra-national war cemetery in Algiers. The same cemetery holds the tomb of at least one serviceman of Maltese origins, Lieutenant Colonel Mallia of the Royal Army Ordinance Corps who died in 1944.

During a short inter-faith ceremony which included prayers from ministers of different creeds, Mr Ivan Vassallo, Counsellor, together with other dignitaries laid a wreath at the base of a cenotaph in memory of the sacrifice given by the soldiers of various nations during the First and Second World War.
